Former Campbellsville University All-American running back Greg Fountain and the Seinajoki Crocodiles will play in the Maple Bowl XXXI this Saturday at 9 a.m. ET. The game is the postseason championship for the American Football Association of Finland. The Crocs will be battling the five-time defending league champion Porvoo Butchers, which they beat earlier this season in the Maple League (Vaahteraliiga) Game of the Week. 

Campbellsville University head football coach Perry Thomas will debut his football review show this evening at 5:30 on the Wazoo Sports Network. The "Perry Thomas Show" can be viewed twice a week on the state-wide sports network and four times a week in Campbellsville on WLCU (Comcast Channel 10).

Campbellsville University juniors Jeffery Demary and David Hon, along with Bethel University sophomore Cordarious Mann, are the Mid-South Conference Football Players of the Week for the week ending Aug. 28, the conference announced on Monday.

They were two of the first high school programs to break in the new synthetic turf at Finley Stadium this summer, now Campbellsville High School and Taylor County High School will be the first two teams to play a high school game on the newly renovated surface at Campbellsville University. The cross-town rivals will meet in the annual "Battle of the Birds" Friday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

To say that there's an excitement surrounding the start of the 2010 Campbellsville University football season would be an understatement. More than 3,500 fans packed Finley Stadium and its fence lines Saturday night to watch the Fighting Tigers make history and start the season 1-0 with a 34-7 victory over Kentucky Christian University in the first home night game in school history.
