Former Campbellsville University pitching coach Scott Hortness was named the head coach of the Dakota State University baseball program Wednesday. Hortness, 45, spent the last nine seasons as the top assistant and pitching coach for the Tigers.

Former All-State pitcher and Kentucky Wildcat Sean Bouthilette has committed to Campbellsville University for the 2011 season. Bouthilette, a week-day starter and reliever at UK, is the 23rd signee for the Tigers' recruiting class and first NCAA Division I transfer.

Aaron Schwoebel is CU baseball's first in-state high school recruit in 2010.
Campbellsville High School three-sport athlete Aaron Schwoebel will concentrate entirely on baseball after officially signing with Campbellsville University last month.

The 6-7 Schwoebel, who has been named the Fifth Region Player of the Year, finished with a .413 batting average but an even-more impressive .729 on-base percentage after receiving 35 walks. "Swabes" as he's known by his teammates and as appears on his truck's license plate, had nine home runs and 32 RBI while scoring 37 times.

Former Campbellsville University catcher Richie Rowland continues to be on a hot streak as he makes his rookie debut for the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. Rowland, who is in his third week of Minor League Baseball, was named the Pioneer League Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday for the week ending July 4.
