Campbellsville University Softball Coach Shannon Wathen signed one more 2010-11 recruit, making Natalie Duncan the 12th player to ink with the Tigers.

Duncan played for Warren (Ky.) East High where she was a varsity starter since the seventh grade. She compiled four first-team All-4th Region honors and was on the second team in 2008, all as a catcher/first baseman. She was second team All-State as a catcher in 2008 and 2009.

Tiger softball honored for its academics
Tiger softball evidently wasn't finished raking in honors from its 2010 season as Shannon Wathen's squad was named an NAIA Scholar Team.

In order to qualify, a team must post a minimum of a 3.0 GPA out of a 4.0 scale. Campbellsville attained a 3.32 team GPA for the 2009-10 school year.

Once Taylor County (Ky.) High's  Becca Cook made up her mind to continue playing softball in college, she said it wasn't hard choosing Campbellsville University.

Cook put pen to paper Thursday afternoon in the H&W Sport Shop Ronnie Hord Field House on the CU campus and signed on with Shannon Wathen's Tigers. She is the 10th signee of the 2010-11 class.

Three of Campbellsville University's softball recruits played in the Kentucky vs. Tennessee All-Star Game held July 1 on the campus of Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green.

Although the Tennessee stars won both games -- 2-0 and 3-2 -- the future Tiger players were significant contributors.

This summer was supposed to be spent as a summer mission trip to the Dominican Republic for Campbellsville University softball player Jordan Cornett and former women's basketball player Kristi Ensminger. However when an earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale hit Haiti in mid-January, plans changed.
