TOPEKA, Kan. – My hopes for day two was to tell you all of Campbellsville's mental preparation and focus paid off to one of the best national tournament performances in program history. However, CU added another option for #10inTopeka with a 10th place standing after a rough opening day.
TOPEKA, Kan. – Three Campbellsville Tiger wrestlers earned the right to call themselves an All-American Friday night at the NAIA Wrestling National Championships in the Kansas Expocentre.
Brandon Westerman and Shawn McGhee became the 11th and 12th Tigers to earn All-America status more than once in their career, while Treyvontay Rhodes, a redshirt freshman from Augusta, Ga., will be the 20th Tiger in 10 seasons to add his name to CU's All-American board in its wrestle room. In all, CU has had a wrestlers place in the Top 8 as an All-American 39 times.
TOPEKA, Kan. – It was a rough opening morning for Campbellsville University at the 54th annual NAIA Wrestling Championships. However, the Tigers recovered from their bottom 10 post after the first round to finish 10th after the morning session.
The evening session will begin at 6:30 p.m. CST with the national quarterfinals, following the Parade of Champions at 6 p.m.
TOPEKA, Kan. – Since CU wrestling arrived at the Capitol Plaza and Kansas Expocentre on Wednesday night, it's been non-stop action … okay, maybe not. Usually we will post a travel day diary as day one, but well, there wasn't much to write, at least not yet.
After a day on the road Wednesday in three vans (two mini vans and a 15-passenger van, which was missing two seats to basically make it a cargo van), the team hit the workout room to sweat off some pounds. The coaches and support staff went to dinner and sweated off hot wings.
