Amano and Nobile earn NAIA Women's Tennis All-American honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Campbellsville women's tennis has a duo of Lady Tigers being named NAIA All-Americans, officials announced on Tuesday.

For the second straight season, Kaede Amano was named First-Team, while Majella Nobile earned Honorable Mention honors.

Amano, who was named the MSC Freshman of the Year last season and MSC Player of the Year this season, is the first Lady Tiger to earn First-Team honors twice.

Amano posted a 20-1 record -- all at No. 1 -- while recording a 21-1 record in doubles action. In all 21 singles victories this season she won in straight sets. In 11 victories at No. 1 doubles, her closest match was 8-4, while posting five 8-0 victories.

The only loss by Amano in both doubles and singles came to a former MSC Player of the Year, Henar Munoz, who transferred to No. 1 Georgia Gwinnett for this season.

In addition, she is the highest-ranked conference player in the ITA Rankings as Amano is No. 12 in the country. She's also ranked second in the ITA East Region behind Isidora Petkovic of Union College. New rankings will be released soon.

Nobile had a solid junior season as well. She started the year with eight straight wins before falling to Georgia Gwinnett's Gabreille Robinson on March 14. On the year, Nobile went 16-4 in the third-seeded singles position.

In doubles, she teamed up with Amano for 13 matches and Enkhbayar for 10. With Amano, the duo went 12-1 – their lone loss came to Georgia Gwinnett's top-pair of Emerald Able and Henar Munoz. With Enkhbayar, Nobile went 6-4.

Campbellsville finished its season with a 14-9 record but went 2-2 at the NCCAA National Championships in Mobile, Ala. to end the year.
