Neely Quint is sixth Lady Tiger to earn Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Year honor

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Senior Neely Quint was named the Mid-South Conference Softball Pitcher of the Year officials announced at tonight's annual awards banquet. 
 
Quint, a senior from Brookport, Ill. is the sixth Lady Tiger pitcher to earn the honor and first since Victoria Decker won back-to-back awards in 2015 and 2016. 


"Neely's success in the circle is a direct reflection of the dedication and hard work she made the decision to put in at the completion of last season," said head coach Shannon Wathen. "She has always worked hard but I felt like last fall she came in on a mission and it's been a blessing to witness and be a part of. 

"I am so proud of Neely and can think of no one more deserving of this honor. She has been amazing all season."


With a 25-2 overall record, Quint is having a season for the record books. She started her senior campaign with a perfect 24-0 record – the longest streak in CU history. Her 25 wins rank No. 1 in the Mid-South Conference and No. 3 in the NAIA. In addition, her 0.7 walks per game is eighth in the country as well. 
 
Overall on the year, Quint boasts an ERA of 1.48 in 165 innings pitched with 21 complete-games and eight shutouts. She also has a single-season career-high 96 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .244 of her. 
 
In the conference individual rankings, Quint ranks No. 1 in ERA, first in innings pitched, first in walks allowed per game, second in saves (2), third in opponent batting average, fourth in hits per game (6.62) and fifth in strikeouts.
 
She has been a four-time MSC First-Team selection and has placed her name in the Lady Tiger record books for years to come.
