BOWLING GREEN, Ky.– Campbellsville's men's golf team concluded the 54-hole Mid-South Conference Championship in fifth place after compiling a tournament total of 47-over par 911. On the final day of the tournament at the Bowling Green Country Club, the Tigers posted a team score of 17-over par 305.
After recording a pair of 15-over par 303s in the first two rounds, Campbellsville did not keep up with the pace and added two strokes to the team score with a 17-over par 305 in the third and final round.
Pierce Dahl guided the Tigers in the final round with a 1-over par 73, but finished tied for 19th with a total score of 30-over par 231 over the three days. With the men starting on the back, Dahl posted a 1-under par 35 on his final nine holes after notching birdies on No. 1, No. 4 and No. 9 to end the day.
Justin Riffle finished just inside the top 10 after recording a 10-over par 226 during the three rounds to finish tied for 10th. On the final day, Riffle posted a 4-over par 76, which was a shot off his first two rounds. On Tuesday, Riffle carded a pair of 3-over par 75s. The lone birdie on the day came on the par-five second hole for Riffle.
Justin Warman continued to struggle down the stretch after a 5-over par 77 on Wednesday, which pushed him into a tie for 17th after racking up a three-round total of 29-over par 230. He started strong with a birdie on No. 10 and then finished his first nine with a birdie on No. 18. Warman slipped off the pace on his final nine holes with just one birdie on the final nine.
Austin Mahoney finished off is Mid-South Conference Tournament with a 16-over par 232 and placed 21st. Mahoney notched back-to-back birdies on holes 14 and 15 to move to 1-under par on the day, all three of Mahoney's birdies came in a five-hole span on his first nine, but he finished 2-over par when making the turn. The freshman ended the day with a 5-over 79, which was highest score of the three rounds.
After posting a score of even-par 72 in the second round,
Halen Stamper was the lone Tiger to hit 80 on the round with an 8-over 80 in the final round. Stamper had two birdies on the day coming three holes in, on the par-four 12th and also birdie No. 6 on the final stretch of his round. Stamper placed 24th with a 20-over par 236.
Cumberland University won the Mid-South Conference Championship for the second-straight season with total score of 19-over par 883. University of the Cumberlands won medalist honors after firing a 14-under par 66.
Following the tournament,
Justin Warman was named to the Mid-South Conference Second Team after posting an average of 72.29 over the MSC events.
The Tigers wrap up their 2017-18 season.
