Tiger track and field sits in fourth after day two; 4x800m relay leads the day,

COLUMBIA, Ky. — The Tigers endured the rain for the entire day on day two of the Mid-South Conference Championships and sit in fourth place.
 
It took a school record in order the men's 4x800m relay to win the Tigers first title of the championship. Camryn Snapp, Bret Crawford, Chris Stoeckel, and Sam Kiser beat the previous record by almost two seconds with a time of 7:56.38. The previous record held by assistant coach Dylan Ford, Will Ballard, Adam Sandidge, and Crawford was 7:58.07.
 
Garland Webb jumped his way to the bronze medal in the men's long jump. He beat alumni Detrick Briggs' school record dating back to 2011 of 6.89m, while Webb jumped 6.99m. 
 
In the throws today, the Tigers made up crucial ground in scoring. Scoring 13 points in the men's discus with Jay Drennen leading the way with a bronze medal throw of 41.14m. Anthony Sams came in just behind Drennen in fourth place with a throw of 39.35m. Caleb Costin rounded out the scoring in the event with a seventh-place throw of 36.93m. 
 
In the sprints Jaron Jackson and Tyler Lewis moved on to finals tomorrow afternoon. Jackson qualified for the men's 200m dash finals earning the final spot with a time of 22.79. Lewis ran the fastest time in the preliminary round in the 110 hurdles with a time 15.21.
 
The Tigers will wrap up the championship on Tuesday with events starting at 2 p.m. ET.
