BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — For the second time in three years, Lady Tiger softball has the Freshman of the Year in the Mid-South Conference. Tori Humphrey garners the honor this season after leading the Mid-South Conference in numerous categories.
 
Humphrey, from Paducah, Ky., is the second Lady Tiger to pick up Freshman of the Year honors after high school teammate and left-hand man on the diamond, Jacqueline Roof, earned the award in 2015.

In addition, she is the fourth Lady Tiger to receive the honor in the last six years – Kristin Benton (2012), Victoria Decker (2013), and Roof (2015).
 
In her rookie year, Humphrey is leading the Mid-South Conference with a .480 batting average and .803 slugging percentage. Her .538 on-base-percentage also tops the team, while her 15 doubles and eight home runs is second on the team behind Roof – who was named Player of the Year.
 
"Tori is an exceptional young lady and student-athlete," said coach Shannon Wathen. "We are extremely blessed she chose Campbellsville University and our Lady Tiger softball program. As a freshman, Tori has already begun to leave her footprints on our program through her tremendous work ethic and desire to get better every day. She has developed into one of the better hitters in the conference and she's just a freshman. The sky is the limit for her."
 
Defensively, Humphrey ranks second behind Roof with 110 assists and 2.44 assists per game. She also ranks seventh in the MSC in runs scored per game (.82), sixth in runs scored (37), fifth in hits (61) and sixth in RBIs (36).
 
Campbellsville enters the Mid-South Conference Tournament with a 35-11 record and is the two-seed after finishing the regular season with a 18-4 conference mark.

The Lady Tigers will open the tourney with Cumberland University at 2 p.m. ET at Michael O. Buchanon Park in Bowling Green. Fans can tune into the CU Sports Network for radio coverage and also the Mid-South Sports Network for video coverage.
