BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Even after a member of the Lady Tigers received the Mid-South Conference Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and the Champions of Character honor, Campbellsville had nine student-athletes named to the All-Conference and Gold Glove teams.
In addition to
Jacqueline Roof being named the Player of the Year and
Tori Humphrey earning Freshman of the Year honors, the duo joined
Mia Aldridge and
Neely Quint on the First Team. On the Second Team,
Brittany Rippy,
Hailey Szpila,
Brianna Scott and
Morgan Gailor earned honors.
Additionally, the Mid-South added Gold Glove awards this season and
Jacqueline Roof and
Madison Mudd both earned the honor at shortstop and centerfield, respectively.
This year, Roof is hitting .411 with 11 home runs and 47 RBIs from her leadoff spot in the batting order. The home run and RBI count leads the team, as does her 17 doubles, 60 hits, 52 runs scored, 20 walks, and 12 stolen bases. The 12 swipes are a single-season high for her career.
Her 47 RBIs in 46 games matches her total from last season in 51 contests. Her 17 doubles are three away from tying Emma Napier's mark set in 2012.
Roof has recorded 20 multi-hit games, with seven of them being three hits or more. In addition, she has ONLY struck out seven times this season, which is a season low.
Humphrey is leading the Mid-South Conference with a .480 batting average and .803 slugging percentage. Her .538 on-base-percentage also lead the team, while her 15 doubles and eight home runs are second behind Roof.
Aldridge, a freshman from Lawrenceburg, Ky., started in all 46 games for CU in left field and had a stellar freshman campaign by hitting .354 with six homes and 27 RBIs. Quint, the ace of the pitching staff, led CU with an 18-5 record and 2.38 ERA in 120.2 innings pitched. Her 2.38 ERA ranks fifth in the Mid-South, while her opponents batting average of .244 is fourth. Also, the 18 wins is second behind Casey Bryan's 21, who was named MSC Pitcher of the Year.
On the second team, Rippy started all 46 games at second base and was third on the team in hitting at .362. She also drove in 18 runs and swiped 7-of-10 bases mainly from the nine-hole in the batting order.
Szpila is earning All-Conference for the third straight year after being named Second Team in 2015 and First Team last year. She finished the regular season hitting .328 with six home runs and 30 RBIs. Her six home runs is third on the team and her 30 RBIs is fourth.
Scott is earning All-Conference for the second consecutive season after hitting .346 with five home runs and 34 RBIs. The RBI count ranks third behind Roof and Humphrey. Scott was also named Champions of Character at tonight's banquet for the second time.
Lastly, No. 2 starter
Morgan Gailor earned Second Team honors. She finished the regular season with a 12-5 record and 3.14 ERA in 116 innings pitched.
Mudd and Roof earned the inaugural Gold Glove awards with stellar defensive seasons. Mudd finished with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 42 chances, while Roof shined the leather with a .949 fielding percentage. Roof finished with 121 assists – which ranks No. 9 in the NAIA.
Campbellsville enters the Mid-South Tournament with a 35-11 record and is the two-seed after finishing the regular season with a 18-4 conference mark.
