BOWLING GREEN, Ky. —
Tyler Harrod shot the second-lowest round of the day with a two-under 70 but Campbellsville men's golf dropped to fourth in the final team standings at the Mid-South Conference Championship.
The Tigers were in third to start the day but shot 302 compared to University of the Cumberlands' 293 to drop a spot and the Patriots placed third. CU shot 303-293-302 in the three-day total.
Cumberland University won the team championship after rallying from nine strokes down to defeat Lindsey Wilson. Garrett Daniel buried a 10-foot birdie on the 18
th hole for the Phoenix to claim the title, while LWC's Rasmus Lind's five-foot birdie attempt fell below the hole to send the team championship into a playoff.
Individually, it was Lind and Ben Kendrick tied after three rounds with matching 210s. The duo battled with three playoff holes and Kendrick prevailed. Each pared the first two holes but Kendrick got up-and-down for his par on the par-three third, while Lind three-putted and missed his par opportunity.
After firing 293 on Tuesday, the Tigers fell back with a third-round score of 302.
Justin Warman and
James Higgins both finished tied for fifth with matching 221s. Warman fell off the pace with a final-round 77, while Higgins shot a three-over 75.
Harrod's 70 moved him into a tie for 12
th, while Riffle fell off the pace with an eight-over 80 to be tied for 16
th. Riffle earned Second-Team All-Conference honors.
Scalos placed 39
th with three rounds in the 80s – 86-84-83.
The top Tiger duo –
James Higgins and
Justin Warman - both earned First-Team All-Conference honors, while Riffle earned Second-Team honors.
The Golfer of the Year, Ben Kendrick, First-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-Conference are based on seven scores from the three MSC Tournaments throughout the year and each student-athlete can toss out their two highest rounds.
The fourth-place finish ends the Tigers season. Campbellsville had three team championships and a third-place finish at the MSC Fall Championship.
