Fox named First-Team, Clements and Stewart earn Second-Team Mid-South Conference honors

FRANKFORT, Ky. — A slew of Lady Tigers were honored on Wednesday night at the Mid-South Conference women's basketball awards banquet but three earned All-Conference honors. Emily Fox was named First-Team All-Conference, while Madison Clements and Madison Stewart was named Second-Team.

All three have been forces for the Lady Tigers at different times of the year.

Fox, the lone senior mentioned for the Lady Tigers, has been steady by leading CU with 14.6 points per game and is hitting 37 percent from the 3-point line. She drilled a season-high six 3-point baskets in consecutive games of the MSC/Southern States Challenge vs. Martin Methodist College and Bethel University. In addition, Fox ranks No. 7 by hitting 82 3-point baskets this year and No. 8 by hitting 2.8 triples a game.

Clements, a redshirt junior from Clementsville, Tenn., is second on the team by averaging 12.5 points and is hitting 43 percent from the floor. Clements started the season on fire, pitching in double-figures in nine-straight games and ended up scoring a season-high 25 points vs. Lindsey Wilson College on the road. Clements has stepped up her defense as well, ranking No 23 in the NAIA in steals with 67.

Stewart, a sophomore from Leitchfield, Ky., fought through injuries all season and has been inserted into the starting lineup the nine of the last 10 games. In those nine games, Stewart has scored double-figures in six with a season-high 17 points vs. University of Pikeville and Life University.

"It's great to see kids get recognized, and we are certainly proud of their accomplishments," said coach Ginger Colvin. "I'm sure all three of our award winners would say that it's been a team effort. We are very balanced and rely on all members of this team. Our conference is tough, and there are many great players in the conference."

In addition, the Mid-South Conference honored Kayla Styles as the Player of the Year. Averaging 17 points per game and 11 rebounds, Styles was named the MSC Player of the Week three times and NAIA Player of the Week twice.

The MSC also honored three Shawnee State University Bears – Brandie Snow, Freshman of the Year; Madison Ridout, Defensive Player of the Year; and Jeff Nickle, Coach of the Year. Also, Jenna Brown, MSC Champions of Character.

Campbellsville will play University of the Cumberlands on Thursday, March 2 at 8 p.m. ET. Fans can follow the action on the Campbellsville University Sports Network, 88.7 The Tiger, starting at 7:45.
