SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Annija Abolina and
Julia Fonseca were both named to the Daktronics-NAIA Women's Volleyball Scholar-Athlete list, the national office announced on Friday afternoon.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.
This is the first time Fonseca has earned the national recognition, while Abolina garners the award for the second-straight season.
Graceland University led all NAIA institutions with 11 award winners, while 556 women's volleyball student-athletes across the country earned the honor.
