FRANKFORT, Ky. — Lady Tiger basketball traded in their Adidas sneakers and basketball shorts for heels and fancy dresses tonight at the Mid-South Conference banquet hosted at the Frankfort Capital Plaza.
The Lady Tigers were represented very well, as the conference coaches voted Lindsey Burd as the MSC Co-Player of the Year and Kristen Jacob won her second consecutive Champions of Character award (see separate stories).
In addition, Campbellsville had two Lady Tigers named to first-team All-MSC and another was named second-team.
Burd was joined by sharp shooter Emily Fox for first team honors. Burd is fifth in the nation with 503 total points (17.3 ppg) and No. 7 in total rebounds with 260 (9 rpg). In January she was named NAIA Player of the Week and became the 31st Lady Tiger to enshrine her name in the 1,000 point club.
Fox leads the MSC and third in the country by hitting 95 3-point baskets this season and fourth by knocking down 3.2 triples per game. A 23-year record is on the brink of falling this week at the MSC tournament, as Fox is three 3-point baskets away from knocking off Jody Criswell for the most 3s hit in a single-season at 97 in the 1992-93 year.
Campbellsville's second-team All-MSC honor came via point guard LeeAnn Grider. Grider has been the floor general for two-straight seasons, as she leads the leads the MSC in six individual categories - total assists (165), assists per game (5.6), total steals (76) steals per contest (2.6) and assist to turnover ratio (2.75). In the NAIA, Grider has recorded the second-most assists in a game with 16 against Lindsey Wilson on Dec. 13. That record is also a 20-plus year record set by head coach Ginger High Colvin in 1990.
Campbellsville University also had seven student-athletes pick up Academic All-MSC honors, including: Lindsey Burd, senior, Hardyville, Ky.; Madison Clements, junior, Clementsville, Tenn.; Emily Fox, junior, McKinney, Ky.; LeeAnn Grider, junior, Jamestown Ky.; Brittni Holman, junior, Oregonia, Ohio; Kristen Jacob, senior, Lexington, Ky.; and Alexis Pester, junior, Pembroke Pines, Fla.
