Preston wins his third MSC Coach of the Year honor

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Adam Preston has scored a different kind of hat trick, parlaying an undefeated 2015 conference soccer mark into his third Mid-South Coach of the Year award. The honor was announced tonight at the men's and women's soccer banquet held at the National Corvette Museum.

Preston's team is 15-2, 7-0 MSC and his Tigers have helped him set a career mark of 128-99-10 heading into the conference tournament tomorrow and Friday (Nov. 5 and 6) at Lover's Lane Park, Bowling Green, Ky. He also won the honor in 2006 and 2008.

"I am happy to add my congratulations to Adam Preston on his being named the MSC Coach of the Year," said Rusty Hollingsworth, director of CU athletics. "Coach Preston had a great season overall, but for a coach to go undefeated in this conference is worthy of receiving this award.

"Adam had paid his dues and has continued to work hard and recruit hard and now we see the end results in a winning program. It is so rewarding to see a guy like Adam, who played in this program, now have so much success as the head coach. Congratulations to Adam and his team on a great season."

The No. 1 seed Tigers meet eight-seed Pikeville (2-10) at 1 p.m. ET in the tournament's opening match.

CU ended the regular season on an 11-game win streak. During that stretch, the Tigers outscored their opponents 46-3. Overall, Campbellsville has outscored foes 69-11.

"I am truly lucky to be able to work with Adam and call him a close friend," said assistant Alex Adams. "His passion for this university, team and this sport shows through every single day. He continuously pours his heart and soul into the lives of these young men. He has developed this program into a family that takes pride in its past, present and future success and that is evident in the bond that the guys have shown on the field this year."

Preston began his coaching career with two years as an assistant at Campbellsville High School before joining the Campbellsville University staff in 2003. He has carried the Tigers to two national tournaments in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

In 2008, the Tiger posted a then-program best record of 17-7 and finished fourth in the NCCAA National Tournament. The Tigers topped that record in 2010 with a 19-6 finish and were fifth in the NCCAA National Tournament.

A native of Paducah, Ky., Preston is a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. He earned a B.S. in marketing/management from Campbellsville University in 2003 and a Master's in Business Administration from CU in 2007.

He played collegiately at Campbellsville where he was a four-year starter and two-time team captain. During his career, he received All Mid-South Conference Team honors as a Second Team selection and honorable mention. He was also an Academic All-Conference selection.

He and his wife Brittany have one daughter, Avery Ellen Preston, who was born in the spring of 2011.
