KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Campbellsville senior Mikayla Smith earned Daktronics-NAIA Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete honors, the national office announced on Thursday.
Smith, who transferred to CU in December of 2014, earns her first NAIA academic award and is the first Campbellsville honoree since 2012.
The Mid-South Conference had eight others earn NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors: Quint Hogan (Cumberland University), Katie Legge (Cumberland University), Bri-anne Tokariwski (University of the Cumberlands), Corri Collins (Georgetown College), Haley Hart (Georgetown College), Kayla Corderio (Lindsey Wilson College), Kristen Bullock (University of Pikeville) and Lauren Gregory (University of Pikeville).
In order to be nominated by an institution's sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
A total of 129 student-athletes across the NAIA received the honor.
