BOWLING GREEN, Ky. —
James Higgins and
Wade Cave finished with third round 76s and the Tigers finished in fifth place at the Mid-South Conference Championship at Bowling Green Country Club.
All five CU golfers were within four shots of each other in round three. Higgins finished in a tie for 12
th place after a four-over 76 to be named to Second-Team All-MSC. Cave's 76 finished tied him for 19
th.
Jared Fannin and
Justin Riffle also had matching scores with five-over 77s with neither recording a birdie on their round to finish tied for 25
th and 28
th, respectively.
Robert Johnson was able to scratch a birdie on the par five 14
th but finished with two double bogeys for his final round to place tied for 31
st.
As a team, the Tigers finished just ahead of Georgetown College (919) and St. Catharine College (929) in the final standings. CU finished with team scores of 307, 302, and 306 in its three rounds.
University of the Cumberlands won the team title on the men's side with team scores of 288, 281, and 288 (857). The Patriots won the championship by 23 strokes over Lindsey Wilson College and 33 over Cumberland University. University of Pikeville out-paced Campbellsville by one stroke (914) to finish in fourth.
Cumberlands' Ben Kendrick won individual title and was named MSC Golfer of the Year after an impressive three rounds. He fired 71-64-70 (205, -11) to outpace his teammate Callum McGuigan by eight strokes (213, -3). Lindsey Wilson's Jonathon Grabara also finished under par at -1.
