COLUMBIA, Ky. — Campbellsville Lady Tiger Basketball recieved four selections on the Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams that were announced Thursday by league officials.
Campbellsville's Daizah Kimberland and Ellen Sholtes were tabbed as first team performers that were voted on by MSC coaches. Kimberland, a junior from Bardstown, Ky., finished the regular season as the Lady Tigers' leading scorer with 11.2 points per game. She is also second on the team in rebounding (5.5) and first in field goal percentage, shooting 139-for-267 (52.1 percent). She has done all of this through an average of 20.3 minutes per game and while battling through fluid on her knees after having three knee surgeries in the last five years.
Sholtes has come into her own in MSC play. In the previous seven games, she hit double digits in scoring with a career-high 20 points and 10 rebounds coming against University of the Cumberlands on Feb. 6. Overall the senior guard averaged 10 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
The announcement of the MSC All-Conference Team came on the eve of the 2014 Mid-South Conference Basketball Championships presented by GoJohnnyGo 5K/10K Run/Walk at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center in Lebanon, Tenn.
Fellow Lady Tigers Lindsey Burd and Katie Allen were named to the All-MSC Second Team. Burd started in 24 of CU's 30 games and averaged 9.1 points and led the team with 7.3 rebounds a game. Allen a senior from Ft. Thomas, Ky., is the vocal leader on the team at the point guard position. She averages 9.8 points and a team leading 3.6 assists per game entering the MSC Tournament. She currently sits in the No. 4 spot in assists in Lady Tiger Basketball record book.
Shawnee State senior Alannah Sheets is the 2013-14 Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year.
Sheets ranked in the conference's top 10 in nine different statistical categories, including leading the conference in scoring (20.7 points per game), total points (600), 3-pointers made per game (3.1) and total 3-pointers (89).
The three-time MSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week is eighth in the MSC in field goal percentage (41.1) and free throw percentage (77.6) and nine in 3-point field goal percentage (35.5) entering postseason play.
Nationally, Sheets ranks top 10 in four categories: third in 3-pointers, fourth in 3-pointers made per game and total points and seventh in scoring.
