Six tennis student-athletes earn All-MSC honors

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Campbellsville had six student-athletes be recognized for their on-the-court play in 2016 at the annual Mid-South Conference awards banquet.

Vladyslav Ladygin and Alejandro Soriano headlined the men's field, while Bolor Enkhbayar and Majella Nobile also picked up First Team All-MSC honors.

Campbellsville had a slew of players mentioned on the second team as well. Victor Ahlbeck and Adrian Sobrojo earned second team honors along with Lady Tiger Grace Rowe.

CU also had five students-athletes pick up awards for their hard work in the classroom – Zach Baulch, Johan Fuzellier, Vladyslav Ladygin, Eduardo Mendoza and Sara Coffman all picked up Academic All-MSC honors (see previous story HERE).

The women's banquet was headlined by Angelica Sepulveda earning Mid-South Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year honors.

Sepulveda owns a 12-4 singles record entering the Mid-South Tournament, playing at the top of the Phoenix lineup. She and Tarsha de Souza have a 15-2 doubles record this season as Cumberland's top doubles pair. Sepulveda posted 6-1 conference records in both singles and doubles during the regular season.

Lindsey Wilson's Alex Shchipakina was voted the MSC Women's Tennis Freshman of the Year. Shchipakina enters the conference tournament with an 11-1 singles record and a 12-0 doubles mark.

Georgetown's Kelly Swanson is the Mid-South Conference's Champions of Character recipient. She earns the award -- as voted on by the conference athletics director -- based on her academic and athletic achievement, campus and community leadership, future ambition and a demonstration of five core character values of the NAIA.

Lindsey Wilson coach Marlon Dal Pont was selected by his peers as MSC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year. Dal Pont claims his first women's coach of the year award. He led the Blue Raiders to the regular season title in 2016.

On the men's side Denis Porcic was named MSC Player of the Year owning a 10-1 singles record, including a 5-0 mark against Mid-South competition, all playing from the top spot for the Blue Raiders. He enters postseason play with a 9-3 doubles mark, including a 5-0 conference record, partnering with Raul Mendez as the Lindsey Wilson top tandem.

Pikeville's Enzo Douillac is the MSC Men's Tennis Freshmen of the Year after posting a 6-5 singles record and 8-3 doubles mark.

University of the Cumberlands' Kenny Wilson is the Mid-South Conference's Champions of Character recipient. He earned the award -- as voted on by the conference's athletics directors -- based on his academic and athletic achievement, campus and community leadership, future ambition and a demonstration of five core character values of the NAIA.

Pikeville coach Tim Alderman was selected by his peers as MSC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year. The award is the first for Alderman.

The Mid-South Conference Tournament started this morning at Western Kentucky University. The semifinals and finals will be played at Kereiakes Park in Bowling Green, Ky. on Sunday, April 23 – Monday, April 24.
