Rausch is MSC Coach of Year, Lassiter honored for character

SMYRNA, Tenn. - Campbellsville University bowling head coach John Rausch has been named the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Coach of the Year for the men's team while junior Lady Tiger member Brandee Rae Lassiter was given the Champion of Character award for women's bowling.

"Congratulations to Coach Rausch for his Coach of the Year award. He has worked hard to develop our bowling program, and is very worthy of this honor," said Rusty Hollingsworth, CU athletic direector. "It is always nice for our coaches to be recognized by their peers in the Mid-South Conference."

Rausch was selected by his peers for the award after leading the Tigers to an 8-10 record and a fourth place finish in the league standings.

"We have a bunch of good coaches in our conference, so I am quite embarrassed to get the award honestly," Rausch said. "I think a lot of the men and women in our conference, and all the coaches, have a really good relationship, so that paired with the success of our teams really contribute."

Lassiter was awarded as the MSC women's Champion of Character based upon her academic and athletic achievement, campus and community leadership, future ambition and demonstration of five core character values of the NAIA including: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

"Brandee is our captain, she demonstrates qualities of character and has been very good for our team."

Also receiving MSC awards prior to the tournament were six Lady Tigers and one Tiger for Academic All-Conference: Sarah Apedaile, Kathryn Doolin, Kaylee Kaminski, Kayla Mayfield, Danielle Salyers, Kaitlin Weeks and Jonathan Lobb.

The men's and women's teams both made it through the fourth round of the inaugural MSC Tournament Feb. 23. The Lady Tigers will now prepare for the USBC Collegiate Sectionals, March 8-10. Both the men and women will compete March 22-24 at the USBC NAIA Invitational at Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis.
