FRANKFORT, Ky. — Campbellsville University forward Vernon Payne was named First Team Mid-South Conference at the Men's Basketball Banquet held tonight at the Kentucky History Museum.
Additionally Dino Muslic and Jordan Myers were recognized for their performance in the classroom by being named Academic All-Conference, and Justin Ennis was selected for the conference's Second Team.
Muslic, a senior from Sarajevo, Bosnia, and Myers, a junior from Evansville, Ind., are on the team for their first and second time, respectively.
"I am very happy for all our guys that earned all-conference recognition," said Coach Keith Adkins. "They were all very deserving of their individual honors.
"Vernon has had a great season," continued Adkins. "As the season progressed I think he kept getting better and better. I thought Justin was a potential first-team player. You look at his numbers and he's among the elite guards in our league. There are just so many good players in the Mid-South Conference."
Payne, a 6-foot-6 junior from Fayetteville, N.C., led the team in points per game with 16.50, 36th in the nation.
Payne's stat line also included 7.32 rebounds a game, good for 45th nationally, and he is seventh in the nation in field goal percentage, connecting at a 57 percent clip.
Ennis shot 37 percent from 3, hit 76 percent of his free throws and averaged 14.56 points per game.
"I'm also proud of Dino and Jordan for their accomplishments in the classroom," said Adkins. "They understand the importance of their education and it shows in their results."
