CU women's and men's basketball players gather to watch the CollegeFanz.com bracket announcements.
Tiger fans, put on your dancing shoes. The NAIA National
Tournament brackets for Division I Men's and Women's Basketball were announced Wednesday
and Campbellsville University's men and women will start things off early in
the NAIA's big dance.
The Tiger men will enter the national tournament in Kansas City, Mo., as the
No. 9 team in the 32-team field, while the Lady Tigers are a No. 2 seed in the
tournament in Jackson, Tenn.
Both teams gathered in the Winters Dining Hall to watch the CollegeFanz.com bracket
announcement shows live with students and fans on Wednesday. While technical
difficulties kept them from watching it on the big screen, they gathered around
laptops and cell phones to see what next week's action looked like.
The Lady Tigers drew the second game of the tournament, and will meet
LSU-Shreveport at 10:15 a.m. CST Wednesday.
Tiger assistant coach Bryan Milburn checks out the bracket on Lady Tiger assistant coach Miranda Denney's iPhone.
"I am real glad to have that early Wednesday game, and if we're fortunate
enough to win, to have two days off," Colvin said. "As far as the seed goes, once
you get there there's not going to be an easy game or an easy seed … I like our
bracket a lot. As far as matchups we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully people
have to worry about us more than we have to worry about them. That's the
attitude we're taking."
Should the Lady Tigers advance past LSU-Shreveport, they will face either
Trevecca Nazarene University or William Woods (Mo.) on Friday at 9 a.m. CT.
The Tiger men will face Fresno Pacific in the first round on Wednesday at 12:30
p.m. CT in Kansas City. If they advance, they will meet either John Brown or
McKendree at 9 a.m. CT on Friday.
"Of course winning on Sunday might have given us a better seed, but this is
still a good one," CU head coach Keith Adkins said. "It's been a great season
going into this national tournament, and hopefully we'll extend this thing. We've
got some experience going out there. Nestor Colmenares, Jordan Benock and Shawn
Savage all had significant time on the Fab Four team (in 2007-08)."
