Campbellsville University men's basketball recovered from a Feb. 1 loss to regain its No. 1 spot in the Mid-South Conference and rise one spot in the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball poll Monday.

The Tigers are tied for the No. 8 spot with Westminster College (Utah), which moved up from No. 10. Both teams have 233 points in the poll, the same amount CU had last week, but took advantage of a pair of losses by previous No. 8 Southern Polytechnic, which fell to No. 12.

CU dropped its first of three home games last week, 56-53, to St. Catharine College, but bounced back to beat West Virginia Tech and No. 19 Georgetown College to hold onto its top spot in the conference. Pikeville College is second in the MSC rankings and moved up two spots to No. 13 in the national poll, while Georgetown moved to No. 17, despite the road loss at CU. St. Catharine returned to the "receiving votes" category after beating Campbellsville, while University of Cumberlands is also ranked for the Mid-South Conference at No. 27.

Mountain State University (21-0) received all 12 first-place votes and remained at the top of the NAIA poll.

Campbellsville's three-week Top 10 run has been due in part to its perimeter play. The Tigers are ranked No. 3 in the nation for 3-point defense, holding teams to 27.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, the Tigers' 3-point shooting ranks No. 7 for total 3-point field goals made (195), No. 8 in 3-pointers per game (8.125) and No. 15 in 3-point shooting percentage (37.5). CU is also No. 7 in scoring defense, holding teams to 61. 792 points per game.

CU (18-6, 6-2) travels to Pikeville on Thursday to battle for first place in the Mid-South Conference standings.
