For the seventh time this
season and fourth time in a row, Campbellsville
University's Whitney
Ballinger is the Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The conference announced its weekly basketball awards on Monday. She was also named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Student-Athlete of the Week for the fifth time this season Wednesday.
The Carrollton, Ky.,
junior center averaged 23.3 points and 14.7 rebounds to earn the honor. It is
her ninth Player of the Week award of her two-year career.
Ballinger helped the Lady
Tigers remain unbeaten in the MSC with three wins during the week. She
concluded the week by scoring her 1,000th career point on her final free throw of
the weekend.
Ballinger opened her week
with 14 points and 11 rebounds in Campbellsville's 112-52 win over St.
Catharine College. She scored 22 points, pulled down 19 rebounds and matched
her career-high with eight blocks in the Lady Tigers' 87-52 win over West
Virginia University Tech on Thursday.
Saturday, Ballinger finished
the week with 34 points and 14 rebounds in a 95-78 win over Georgetown College.
On the week, Ballinger
connected on 58.8 percent (30-of-51) of her shots. She added 5.7 blocks, 2.3
steals and two assists per game.
Ballinger enters this week's
play second in the MSC in scoring (21.7) and rebounding (11.8). She leads the
MSC with 14 double-doubles, including four straight. She has scored 30 points six times this season.
Nationally, Ballinger is tied
for first in double-doubles, second in rebounding and third in scoring and
blocks per game (3.6).
With its three wins,
Campbellsville improved to 23-1 overall and 8-0 in MSC play. The Lady Tigers
have won 16 consecutive games.
No. 8-ranked Campbellsville
travels to Pikeville College on Thursday and University of Rio Grande
on Saturday.
