The Campbellsville University junior varsity men's basketball team
opened its 2009-2010 season Monday with a 55-50 win at St. Catharine College's junior varsity.
The Tiger offense struggled in the first 20 minutes as CU trailed,
25-19, at halftime, but the Tigers rallied to outscore St. Catharine,
36-25, in the second half.
Junior forward Scotty Wells had eight of the Tigers' 19
first-half points and finished with a game-high 15, while sophomore guard Storrie
Truitt scored all of his 11 points in the second period. Junior guard Garett
Lowery made a pair of 3's in the half and was the third Tiger in double
figures with 12 points.
The Tigers were able to withstand a late surge for its five-point win, as St.
Catharine scored 10 points in the final three minutes.
The JV Tigers (1-0) will return to action Nov. 19 in Lexington at Transylvania University.
