Campbellsville University slid to No. 28 in the postseason NAIA Coaches Poll for football, released Monday by the national office. The Tigers, who finished the regular season with five points and sitting at No. 27, have three points in the postseason poll.
Leading the way at No. 1 is the undefeated national champion University of Sioux Falls (S.D.), which defeated Lindenwood University in the national title game, 25-22, Dec. 19.
Campbellsville was tied in the final regular season poll with Black Hills State
University (S.D.) with five points each. Georgetown College finished
No. 26 with seven points. Black Hills moved to No. 26 in the postseason poll with five points, followed by Georgetown with four points, then Campbellsville and Montana Tech with three points each.
The
Tigers concluded the season with back-to-back wins over Union University and Pikeville College and tied as runner-up in the Mid-South East
Division. CU's 7-4 record is the best finish since winning nine games in 2003.
Campbellsville's four losses came to Lambuth University and the University of the Cumberlands, who both
advance to the NAIA playoffs, the University of Virginia at Wise and
NCAA Division II quarterfinalist Carson-Newman College.
