Workmen from Reynolds Electric Contractors help unload the final shipment of light poles
The final shipment of light fixtures, poles and other accessories, that
will be used on the football, soccer and baseball fields, arrived late
Wednesday morning.
Work continues where football and men's and women's soccer will be
played, and at the baseball field. All but one of the four holes being
drilled for the light poles, and their concrete anchors, at Finley
Stadium have been drilled. Five more holes will be drilled in the next
few days for the baseball field.
A water line was hit while drilling at one of the hole locations behind
the Finley Stadium bleachers. Once a plumber resets the line, work will
continue. It's likely that the Finley Stadium light pole holes will be
finished by the turn of the calendar year.
If weather cooperates, the Finley Stadium field will have both lights and new artificial turf in time for the spring football game.
A $1.2 million athletic fund-raising campaign was begun on September 25th and there are many opportunities for individuals and businesses to become involved with the project, according to Director of Athletics Rusty Hollingsworth.
