Campbellsville University head baseball coach Beauford Sanders has been named the Diamond Baseball ABCA NAIA Region Coach of the Year. Sanders receives the honor after eclipsing the 800 career wins mark and leading the Campbellsville baseball team to its first NAIA World Series in 2009.

"I'm happy that the ABCA has recognized Coach Sanders as the Region Coach of the Year. This is certainly an honor that is well deserved," CU Athletic Director Rusty Hollingsworth said.

Sanders has won five-straight Mid-South Conference Championships and is now 569-402 (.586) as CU's head coach and 834-649 (.562) overall.

"It never gets old to be recognized for your achievements," Sanders said. "This is a program award though. Anything I've ever been honored with is because of the good coaches and the players who did what you asked of them."

CU begins the 2010 season Feb. 12 with a four-game series at Auburn University-Montgomery.
