Campbellsville University women's soccer players Brittany Halcomb, Laura Swencki and Cassie Yannelli were named to the Mid-South All-Conference team Thursday, while senior Laura Shrader was named one of two Mid-South Conference Champions of Character.
Also receiving recognition for their on-the-field work were Sarah Akers, Jessica Hupp and Kelsey Mandel as All-Conference Honorable Mention.
"I'm very pleased and proud of my girls for these accomplishments," said CU head coach Thom Jones. "In the past, we would not get as many girls recognized as we did this year. This shows that my team is getting respect from the other coaches in our league."

Halcomb, a 5-foot-9 junior defender from Hartford, Ky., helped CU to an 11-win regular season, while her defense allowed 2.28 goals per game during the regular season.
Swencki, a 5-foot-2 senior forward from Lebanon, Ky., added to her total as the Lady Tigers' all-time leading goal scorer with 12 goals this season and seven assists.
Yannelli, a 5-foot-3 freshman midfielder from Lexington, Ky., had nine goals and three assists during the regular season and scored the Lady Tigers' only goal in the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
Akers, a 5-foot-9 freshman goalkeeper from Mt. Sterling, Ky., was named the MSC Defender of the Week twice during the season and once the NAIA Defender of the Week. She had three shutouts through the year and averaged 10 saves per game.
Hupp, a 5-foot-6 sophomore defender from Pataskala, Ohio, joined Halcomb on defense all season, helping CU to three shutouts.
Mandel, a 5-foot-9 sohphomore forward from Louisville, Tenn., finished the year second in goals with 11.
Shrader, a 5-foot-5 senior midfielder from Cincinnati, Ohio, was honored as the Champion of Character along with Georgetown College's Caitlin Williams for their civic and servant leadership within the campus and community. The award is voted on by conference athletic directors.
"No one deserves this award more than Lauren. She is the only girl left on this team from her freshmen year. Lauren has had two ACL surgeries on her knees and almost did not play this year. Instead of giving up Lauren has worked hard and has been a great leader on and off the field," said Jones, who was also Shrader's escort for the 2009 homecoming court. She represented Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
In addition to All-Conference honors and the Champions of Character award, seven Lady Tigers were recognized for their grades in the classroom as Academic All-Conference selections. These players must be at least a sophomore and maintain a 3.25 grade point average or higher. For CU, they are Leslie Carver, Katy Jury, Megan Miller, Halcomb, Hupp, Shrader and Swencki.
