Campbellsville University, running short-handed, according to their
coach "for several reasons", finished fourth in the eight-team
Mid-South Conference meet Saturday at Louisville's Tom Sawyer Park.
Geovanni Popoca, a junior from Valencia, Calif., qualified for
nationals in Vancouver, Wash. by virtue of his ninth place (27:50)
overall finish. Popoca was also named to the All-Conference team.
Rio Grande's team won.
Qualaun Reed ran a 28:14, Dashan Craft a 29:47, Armando Pina a 29:50, Wes Colvin a 31:34 and Matt Oliver a 36:12.
Campbellsville, with 94 points, was 18 points out of third and 42 points out of second. Rio Grande's winning total was 25, as the Red Storm had five runners in the top 10.
There are no seniors who finished for the Tigers.
