Seniors honored at the Track & Field banquet are: (L-R) Glen Jackson, Nathan Hobbs, Miranda Meeks and Dorjpalam Khurelbaatar

Campbellsville University's Outdoor Track & Field team sent off five seniors at the team's banquet Tuesday evening. Glen Jackson, Chris Branam, Nathan Hobbs, Miranda Meeks and Dorjpalam Khurelbaatar will graduate this Saturday.

"This senior class held eight school records among them.  That is what makes this such a great recruiting class," said head coach Joe Stockton.

Other track team members received awards for their accomplishments this season.

The Top Newcomer Awards went to Megumi Kondo and Sean Thompson.

"Megumi Kondo was on pace to have a great conference meet until she was limited from an ankle sprain. Sean Thompson began to peak right at the end of the season when he jumped 6'6 on the high jump at the MSC meet," Stockton said.

Miranda Meeks and Chris Branam received the Most Improved Award. Both broke school records - Meeks in the 800-meter run and Branam in the hammer throw.

The Tiger Award went to Dorjpalam Khurelbaatar and A.J. Brown.

"The Tiger Award, for me, ranks right up there with the team MVP award.  Dorjpalam and A.J. have been a class act on and off the track. They have the character and attitude that any coach would love to be around. Their passion to make the men's and women's team better is what the Tiger Award is all about," Stockton said.

Khurelbaatar, who is a distance runner, helped out with both sprint relays this season, and Brown, a thrower, found out what the 5000-meter race-walk is all about when he placed 6th in the conference out of nine runners.

The MVP Award went to Kaitlin Pritchett and Detrick Briggs

"Kaitlin and Detrick both competed and scored in multiple events at our conference meet. That is what I want my team MVP to be - runners that can accumulate points in as many events as their training will let them," Stockton said.

"I feel this was a good season, despite some adversities, five school records on the men's side and two school records from the women's program this year. We had our first NCCAA National Championship, and another athlete, Miranda Meeks, will be representing the university at the NAIA National Championship in St. Louis, Missouri."
