Campbellsville, Kentucky
Georgetown and Lindsey Wilson eliminated the Campbellsville men and women, respectively, from the Mid-South Conference Tennis Tournament over the weekend, but the men will move on to NCCAA play May 4-7 in Marion, Ind. by virtue of their 10-5 overall record.
Campbellsville's only two points in a 5-2 defeat came in men's doubles when Terry Caven and Zac Maylon combined for a 8-4 doubles victory over Georgetown's Frankie Roberts and Carlos Del Valle.
Pablo Numbela was a singles winner (6-3, 6-4) over Miguel Reyes for Kyle Caven's young Tiger squad.
The CU women ended their season at the MSC tourney with a 3-11 slate.
The National Christian College Athletic Association has invited eight teams from NCAA Divisions 2 and 3 and the NAIA to compete at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Campbellsville will be joined by Palm Beach Atlantic, Olivet Nazarene, Taylor, Indiana Wesleyan, Bethel (Ind.), North Greenville and Emanuel. The schools will be divided into two pools of four teams.
"You'll have to play your way out of those pools," Caven said.
Caven, who was named Mid-South Coach of the Year, is excited that his men's team gets to continue play.
