COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Campbellsville University junior Sebastian Marot is the Mid-South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Tuesday.
The award is the first of the season handed out by the Mid-South.
The Pretoria, South Africa, native, won both his singles and doubles matches last week while helping the No. 23-ranked Tigers to a 7-2 win over visiting Tennessee Wesleyan.
Marot dropped just four games in dismissing Tennessee Wesleyan's David Escobosa 6-0, 6-4 in the top singles match. He helped Campbellsville win four of the six singles points in the match win.
Prior to singles, Marot teamed with Zach Bauich to win the No. 2-seeded doubles match 8-2 over Ezequiel Gils and Oleskil Lahuza. The win helped the Tigers sweep all three doubles points.
Campbellsville moves to 1-0 on the season with the win.
CU Tennis was originally scheduled to return to action Wednesday, Feb. 26 in its MSC opener against Georgetown College, but the match is postponed due to weather. CU will play Asbury University on Thursday, Feb. 27 in Lexington, Ky.
The next men's tennis player of the week award is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, March 4.
