Overall both the men's and women's teams excelled throughout the tournament. With this being the first time both teams have played this year, and playing 35-plus total matches in three days, it will take a toll on the body.
"We had an excellent weekend overall," said Caven. "We excelled in our mental fortitude overcoming a ton of matches in three days. We are starting to make a name for ourself."
On the men's team, the top three (Soriano, Pontus, and Marot) are back from last season and Caven is looking for them to provide leadership for the younger players.
On the women's team, all the returners are back and in the spring, Gleidys Salazar will return to the court. She will provide some depth and leadership as well.
"We have a lot of areas to improve on for both teams," said Caven. "But we started out strong and will continue to get better each and every day. I am excited to see how things unfold throughout the rest of the fall and spring."
Both teams will compete in the Campus Showdown at Kelly Hall Tennis Complex on the campus of Campbellsville University, Oct. 12. The Tigers will travel to Louisville, Ky. for the University of Louisville Invitational, November 1-3.
