Campbellsville, Kentucky - The Campbellsville University Tiger football team will compete in the Mid-South Conference Eastern Division in 2008 according to an announcement made today.

“Campbellsville will move into the Eastern Division and Shorter College will move to the Western Division effective next season,” said MSC Commissioner Mike Pollio.  “It just makes sense for this move to be made as it provides both teams theopportunity to compete for a Conference Championship against more natural rivals and will help cut down travel for both teams,” he added.

Campbellsville will now compete with Cumberlands, Georgetown, Pikeville, Union, UVA-Wise and West Virginia Tech in the Mid-South Conference Eastern Division.

“This move allows us to compete with the same teams we play in basketball, volleyball, soccer and other sports for Mid-South Conference Championships,” said Campbellsville University Director of Athletics Rusty Hollingsworth.  “It makes our geographic rival games even more important in football and I think it creates even more excitement as we look towards next season with Perry Thomas as our new head coach,” he concluded.

In 2008 recently appointed head coach Perry Thomas will lead the Tigers in his first collegiate season.
