CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Postseason hopes are on the line today across the nation as the NAIA will announce its national tournament qualifiers and brackets for both NAIA Division I men's and women's basketball.
At 5 p.m. EST today, the NAIA will announce the Top 25 Coaches' Poll and list of 32-qualifiers for both the 33rd annual NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship and the 76th annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship.
A live selection show will be streamed online, here, to announce the brackets beginning at 8 p.m. EST for the men and 8:15 p.m. EST for the women.
Campbellsville University women's basketball, ranked No. 18 in last week's poll, received an automatic bid to next week's tournament in Frankfort, Ky., by finishing runner-up in the Mid-South Conference Tournament to regular season champ Cumberland University, ranked No. 6.
The Lady Tigers will find out tonight at 8 p.m. EST who they will play in the opening round of the NAIA Tournament on either Wednesday, March 13 or Thursday, March 14.
The Tiger men's program though is holding on to hope to claim one of the last spots available for a trip to Kansas City, Mo., next week. CU, ranked in a tie for 32nd in the nation last week, defeated Lindsey Wilson College, now No. 3, in the final regular season game last Monday and lost to LWC in the Mid-South Conference semifinal Saturday. LWC, the regular season MSC champ, went on to win the MSC Tournament, earning automatic bids for both Lindsey Wilson and No. 10 University of Pikeville, which finished runner-up in the MSC Tournament.
On the men's side, four unranked teams earned automatic bids through their conference tournament, claiming four spots in the 32-team NAIA Tournament.
