KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Campbellsville University men's and women's tennis programs each sit at No. 18 in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Polls, the NAIA office announced Tuesday.
With the rankings, both teams are on the bubble for an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament in Mobile, Ala., May 15-19.
The Tiger men's team maintains its No. 18 ranking after finishing runner-up in the Mid-South Conference Tournament on April 21 and closing out the season with a 14-6 record.
The Lady Tigers (13-6) climb one spot to No. 18 after also finishing runner-up in the MSC Tournament.
Both of the NAIA National Tournaments will feature 13 automatic bids, one host bid and 10 at-large bids based off teams' positions in the final NAIA Coaches' Poll, which will be announced May 7.
Currently, seven of the men's automatic qualifiers are ranked above the Tigers with No. 14 Bethany University playing its conference tournament Thursday, May 3. Should Bethany win, the Tigers would be the 10th highest team in the poll without an automatic bid, should the poll go unchanged during the next week.
On the women's side, six automatic bids are locked up by higher ranked teams. The Lady Tigers are currently the 12th highest team in the poll without an automatic bid and would need to climb in the poll over the next week to receive a trip to the NAIA Tournament.
Both Campbellsville tennis programs will compete next week in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championships in Mobile, Ala., May 8-11.
