RIO GRANDE, Ohio  - The Lady Tigers went on a 13-0 run over the last 3:30 of the first half and it propelled CU to a 106-70 win on the road against the Lady Red Storm Thursday night. The win breaks a three-game losing string for Campbellsville, all against Top 25-ranked teams.

"I tell you, this is a big win for us," said Coach Ginger Colvin. "Defensively we were really good and it was just a tremendous team performance."

Campbellsville (15-9, 6-5) was red hot in the first half, hitting 57 percent (59 for the game) of its shots. By intermission two players were in double figures and two others were on the cusp of joining them. The flurry of points forced Rio Coach David Smalley to use his entire complement of timeouts.

"People keep asking me about our girls," continued Colvin. "There is a sense of urgency, but we have a good team. If you could watch us practice every day you would see that we're working hard and improving."

The Lady Tigers pushed out to a 10-point lead seven minutes into the half when Keisha Compton scored on a Megan Isaacs assists. But Rio (15-8, 4-5) got within four (32-28) when Javonna Saddler scored. But that's when CU made it's run. Mackenzie Lee had six of her 11 first-half points during the run and Chelsea Craig scored four of her 10.

It didn't get any better for Rio in the second half. CU led 72-45 half-way through the second half to lead by 27. Rio cut it to 18 with a 9-2 run, but Campbellsville closed out strong and every player on the roster reached the scoring column.

"It's great to see the kids who work hard every day get to come in and contribute," said Colvin.

Lee led CU in scoring with 27 points and added six rebounds and six assists. She was joined in double figures by the 16 points of Craig and 12 by Hayley Hellyer. Hellyer added 10 rebounds to stat line in her first start of her Lady Tiger career.

"She (Hellyer) is one of the best kids, both on and off the floor," said Colvin. "She's had some confidence problems, but she has basketball instincts and I'm just tickled to death for her."

Shardae Morrison-Fountain led Rio with 25 points and was joined in double figures by Saddler's 19.
