LEITCHFIELD, Ky. - Lady Tiger Softball went looking for a pitcher and found one in Grayson (Ky.) County's Victoria Decker.

"Victoria will be a solid addition to our pitching staff and make an immediate impact," said Coach Shannon Wathen. "Not only are we getting a quality player but a great young lady."

Decker's accomplishments on the field are extensive, but she's just as accomplished in the classroom, making All "A" Honor Roll all four years of high school. She plans a course of study that will eventually lead to a degree in engineering.

"CU is getting a highly motivated teammate who is an extremely dedicated player to the sport of softball," said her high school coach, Don Logsdon.

Logsdon said Decker is a finesse pitcher who throws in the lower 60 miles per hour, has the ability to spot her fastball, has a great change-up and can throw crossover, curve, screw and drop ball. Lady Tiger Assistant Coach, Kim Borders, has been Decker's pitching instructor for the last few years. Decker posted a 1.81 ERA in 2011.

"I've coached Victoria since she was a sixth grader playing freshman ball," said Logsdon. "I've coached her at the freshman level, travel ball and varsity level and its been an honor to watch her grow and mature into a wonderful young lady and player.

"She started a few varsity games as an eighth grader and has been the varsity starter since she was a freshman. She is willing to lift during the summer and put in the extra time to be a good hitter and pitcher.

"Grayson will be losing a great player but Campbellsville will be gaining a tremendous student-athlete.  I'm looking forward to watching her career at CU."

On the field, Decker has been honored for:
