Bloomington, Indiana - Several Campbellsvill e University Track Athletes set new school records or personal bests tonight at the Bill Hayes Invitational Track Meet at Indiana University.
"This is a 'last-chance' type meet for athletes to qualify for regionals (NCAA) and nationals (NAIA) so team scores aren't compiled, just the individual event times," said C.U. Track Coach Mark Rowe.
In the 3K Steeplechase, Miranda Meeks rans the course in 11:16:15 which is a school record and personal best. Meek's time ranks 7th this season in the NAIA and she eclipsed the NAIA "A" Standard of 11;33:00 for the second time.
Other School Records:
Chris Branam in the Men's Hammer with a mark of 29.78 meters
Glen Jackson in the Men's 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 15.66
Katlin Pritchett in the Women's 100 and 200 Meter Dash with times of 14.11 and 29.66.
"This was an outstanding day for CU track. We took a limited number of individuals because of finals week and those that competed represented Campbellsville University well. I couldn't be more proud of what we have accomplished this year. I had stressed to our athletes that the end of the season would produce our best performances and tonight this continued to be the case. We have had a great year."
CU Track returns to action at the NAIA Championships on May 22-24th in St. Louis, MO. Three CU athletes will be competing: Miranda Meeks and Andre Braima in the 3k Steeplechase and Detrick Briggs in the Triple Jump.
