Campbellsville, Kentucky - Lauren Wathen was named the Mid-South Conference Softball Co-Player of the Year at the annual MSC Softball Tournament last weekend. Wathen, a senior from Flaherty, Kentucky, cranked out 45 hits in 136 appearances at the plate this season. She scored 31 runs and drove in 37 runs for the Lady Tigers this season.
Five other Lady Tigers were named to the All-MSC team. They were Dana Price (JR/Louisville, KY), Allison Horton (SO/Lanesville, IN) and Krystle Johnson (JR/Louisville, KY), Jessica Gunby (JR/Madisonville, KY) and Erika Creek (FR/Smiths Grove, KY).
Five additional Lady Tigers were named as Honorable Mention All-Conference. They were Jordan Blair (FR/Georgetown, KY), Cassidy Kroecker (SO/Boissevian, MB, Canada), Elaine Briscoe (JR/Georgetown, IN), Bethany Rothermund (JR/Lexington, KY) and Lindsay Coleman (FR/Georgetown, KY).
As has often been the case in the Mid-South Conference this season among most sports, Campbellsville placed more student-athletes on the Academic All-Conference team than any other conference member. Eight Lady Tigers were named as Academic All-Conference selections. They were Allison Horton, Elaine Briscoe, Dana Price, Lauren Wathen, Bethany Rothermund, Jessica Gunby, Cassidy Kroecker, and Katelyn Daniel (SO/Nicholasville, KY).
Campbellsville won it's third straigt MSC Tournament title and now advances into the NAIA Region XI Tournament hosted by Freed-Hardeman University next week.
