Williamsburg, Kentucky - Campbellsville University's Track and Field teams were well represented on Saturday at the Mid-South Conference Championships held at the University of the Cumberlands.
 
In the women's events, Miranda Meeks won the Women's 5000 meter run with a time of 18:53.72 and set a new Mid-South Conference record with that time.   Meeks also set a C.U. track record with her win in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a time of 11:23.73 to win the event.    Meeks has qualified for the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase and will attempt to qualify for the 5000 Meter event on May 9th in the last meet of the season at Indiana University.
 
Jayme Blessit won the Women's Shot Put with a distance of 11.39 Meters which set a new Mid-South Conference record and also hit the NAIA "A" Standard in the event that automatically qualifies her for the NAIA National Championships.
 
Caitlin Pritchett finished 2nd in the 400 Meter Hurdles adn set a new C.U. Track record as well.
 
In the men's events, Andre Braima continued his domination in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase by winning the event and setting a new MSC Record with a time of 9:50.63.   Detrick Briggs also set a new MSC Record in the Men's Triple Jump with a mark of 14.27 meters.  Both athletes have already qualified for the NAIA National Meet.   Also the men's 4.8 relay tam finished third, but their time set a new C.U. Track record.
 
"Even though our team standings don't reflect it, we had a good day," said C.U. Track Coach Mark Rowe.  "We had several athletes set conference, school and personal records and doing those kinds of things keep us moving forward as we build our program," he added.
 
The Tigers and Lady Tigers have one final meet to try to qualify athletes for the NAIA Nationals.  They will participate in the Hayes Invitational on the Indiana University campus on Friday, May 9th.
