Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University Men's Soccer Coach Adam Preston has announced eight new signees that will be with the Tigers when the 2008 season begins this fall.
"I'm very excited overall about the players that we've signed to our program and I believe that all of these guys can help take our program a step forward in the Mid-South Conference," said Preston.
Andres Cervantes is a 5'9" midfielder from Ecuador. He is the son of Alejandro and Leticia Cervantes. "Andres is a very gifted player who possesses good vision and is a quality finisher. If he can increase his fitness level he will be a great asset to our midfield next season," said Preston.
Claudio Hernandez is a 5'7" forward from Maracaibo, Venezuela. He is the son of Claudio and Yalitza Hernandez. "Claudio has excellent speed and will add another element to our attack next season," added Preston.
Juan Diego Chacon is a 5'9" defender from Caracas, Venezuela. He is the son of Edgar and Maria Chacon. "After deciding to join Campbellsville Juan suffered a knee injury that required surgery. His recovery has gone very well and if he recovers in time for the 08 season he will add depth and experience to our defense," said Preston.
Leonardo Rendon is a 6' defender from Caracas, Venezuela. He is the son of Leonardo Rendon and Yalu Rendon. "Leo, who joined the team at the beginning of the spring semester has been solid in all of our training sessions. If he is able to increase his fitness level he is a player that could find himself starting in the defense during the 08 season," commented Preston.
Netanel Gonzalez is a 5'6" defender from Lawrenceburg, Ky. He is the son of Jose and Reyna Gonzalez. He played his high school soccer at Anderson County high school where he earned All-Conference honors his So, Jr, and Sr. seasons, was named to the all-district team his Fr, So, and Jr seasons, and was named All-Region his senior year. He plays his club soccer with United 90 Internationals. "I believe Netanal can come in and have an immediate impact at CU. We will lose several defenders to graduation this year and Netanel's ability and experience could prove vital in having a successful 2008 campaign," said Preston.

Matthew Griffith is a 6'1" midfielder from Bloomington, In. He is the son of Perry and Chris Griffith. Some of the accomplishments of Matt's soccer playing. 3 year Varsity Award winner and starter at Bloomington High South Soccer. 2nd place Indiana State championships youth U14. Runner Up High School Sectional Varsity 3 years running. St. Francis U17 Tournament winners. Center Grove Tournament U15 Champions. Queen City Tournament U16 Runner Up Champions. River City High School Soccer Tournament Champions 2007. 7 year competitive travel soccer teams in Indiana. U15 Premier Soccer League in Indiana for Center Grove Select Soccer. Numerous camps including 8 years at Indiana University Soccer Camp. ODP U14 Regional Camp participant. U15 ODP State Team Member. "Matt is a quality young man who should fit in well with our team. His size and ability could find him in the midfield or defense. He is another player who will help us add capable depth to our 08 roster," stated Preston.

Rodrigo Valenzuela is 5'7" wing midfielder from Curico, Chile. He is the son of Rodrigo Valenzuela and Paulina Correa. "Rodrigo is an excellent player that joined the team at the beginning of the spring semester. In our off-season workouts Rodrigo has been one of the hardest working players on the team. His ability should greatly strengthen our midfield next season," added Preston.
Vicente Gracia is a 5'8" attacking midfielder from Chile. He is the son of Marco Gracia and Macarena Rovira. "Vicente is another player that has recently come off of knee surgery but should be completely recovered in time to have an impact on the 08 season," said Preston.
