Campbellsville, KY - The men's basketball team from Campbellsville University and it's head coach, Keith Adkins, were honored on Tuesday night at the Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship with two awards for sportsmanship.
The Tiger team was named the winner of the Dr. James Naismith-Emil S. Liston Sportsmanship Award and head coach Keith Adkins received the Charles A. Kriger Award.
The Naismith-Liston Sportsmanship Award is named jointly after the founder of the game of basketball and Liston, the founder of the NAIB (the forerunner of the NAIA). This award is presented to the team at the tournament judged the most sportsmanlike during its play. The award was inaugurated in 1965.
The Charles A. Kriger Award is presented to the coach of the team at the tournament that best exhibits respect, civility, integrity and fairplay, the qualities that define sportsmanship and was also started in 1965.
