Campbellsville University punter and place kicker David Hon has been named the Mid-South Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the MSC announced Monday.
Hon hit all six of his point-after attempts (PATs) and connected on
a 23-yard field goal to help lead Campbellsville to a 47-36 win at Union College Saturday. The
junior from Orange Park, Fla., also pinned Union College on the
three-yard line on a 39-yard punt in the second quarter, which led to a safety for the Tigers' first two defensive points of the season.
Hon
averaged 36.7 yards per punt for the game with a long of 50 yards.
Through the first two weeks of the season, Hon is third in the Mid-South Conference in scoring with 19 points. He is 3-for-3 in field goals and has hit all 10 of his PATs. His 19 points is also second in the NAIA for kicking scoring.
Campbellsville (2-0) travels to Cumberland University this coming weekend for a 2:30 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday.
Joining Hon in earning weekly MSC honors Monday are Belhaven University's Billy Hammer and Alex Williams.
Hammer, a Katy, Texas, native, recorded three solo, 10 assisted
tackles and scored a touchdown to earn the MSC Defensive Player of the
Week. The sophomore linebacker helped the Blazers to a 41-34 win over
visiting Louisiana College by forcing a third quarter fumble and
scampering 21 yards for the touchdown.
Williams completed 31-of-42 passes, including a pair of touchdown
tosses to earn MSC Offensive Player of the Week. The Covington, La.,
sophomore, marched the Blazers to the game-winning touchdown going
6-for-6 on the drive en route to the win over Louisiana. In addition to his stellar passing numbers, Williams also led the team with 73 yards rushing.
