Chris Curley went 3-for-6 in his first week with the Pelicans.
Former Campbellsville University third baseman Chris Curley was assigned to the Atlanta Braves' Class A Advanced club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Sept. 1.
Curley, a native of Edgewood, Ky., was scheduled to return to his home state with the Rome Braves this past weekend, but the parent organization had other plans.

The 6-foot, 185-pound infielder was assigned to Myrtle Beach Sept. 1 and made an immediate impact in his first game with the Pelicans the next day. Curley went 2-for-3 with a double and walk in his Pelicans debut on the road Sept. 2, as Myrtle Beach beat the Wilmington (N.C.) Blue Rockets. After a day off for travel, Curley went 1-for-3 with at triple in Saturday's 4-3 loss at home to Lynchburg Hillcats.

The Pelicans host Lynchburg for the final two games of the 2010 season Sept. 5-6 at 6:05 p.m. ET each day.

Live coverage of the games is available at the Pelicans Web site by clicking here.

Curley signed with the Braves as a non-drafted free agent in August 2009 after helping to lead Campbellsville University to its first-ever NAIA World Series appearance. He chose to forgo his senior season and joined the short season Danville (Va.) Braves last fall. He hit .255 for Danville in 2009 and .215 for Rome this season.

Another former CU baseball player, Richie Rowland, will close out his 2010 season this week with the Arizona Diamond Backs rookie club, the Missoula Osprey. Rowland, who signed as a non-drafted free agent in June 2010, began the season on fire, hitting over .500 for the first two weeks as designated hitter. With five games remaining, Rowland is fourth on the team in hitting with a .294 batting average. He also has 11 doubles and five home runs.

Missoula closes its home season tonight at 7 p.m. ET against the Helena Bewers, and then travels to Montana for a two-game series in Billings and then final two games in Helena Sept. 8-9.
