Perry Thomas is interviewed by media following the Tigers win in the NAIA Game of the Week last October.
For the second-straight season, Campbellsville University will be featured in the NAIA Football Game of the Week during the month of October, the Victroy Sports Network announced Monday. VSN, formerly
part of CollegeFanz.com, will feature the Fighting Tigers at home Oct. 7 when
rival Georgetown College comes to town for a Thursday night, Mid-South
Conference showdown.
"Campbellville
is one of the best atmospheres in the NAIA to see a football game," said Jason
Dannelly, owner and founder of VSN. "Add in the fact that one of the perennial
powers of the NAIA in Georgetown Collegeis coming to town, andit
will only get better."
The game, scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern, will be only the second night football
game played at Finley Stadium and first Thursday night home game in school
history.
"We are happy to have Victory Sports Network back on our campus
to broadcast the Oct. 7football game against Mid-South Conference
rival, Georgetown College. Jason Dannelly does a fantastic job of covering and
promoting NAIA athletics, and we are pleased to host him and VSN," said Rusty
Hollingsworth, CU athletics director.
Campbellsville shinned on the national
stage in 2009, going into Rome, Ga., as an unranked team and knocking off No.
10 Shorter University, 42-28, in the CollegeFanz NAIA Game of the Week. The
attention earned national ranking points for Campbellsville. The Tigers moved
into the Top 25 later in the season after knocking off Georgetown College,
21-14, in Campbellsville Oct. 24.
"We're excited about the opportunity to play Georgetown in a nationally
streamed game on the Victory Sports Network. This once again gives us instant
national recognition," said CU head coach Perry Thomas, who is entering his
third season.
The Victory Sports Network (VSN) celebrates its ninth season of coverage for
sports at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) level.
Dannelly returns to the booth for the weekly live broadcasts as a
color-analyst, while John Thayer returns to call the play-by-play.
Each broadcast will include half-time features and interviews with coaches,
players, and college officials. The "VSN NAIA Football Game of the Week" live
broadcast will be available on VictorySportsNetwork.com.
One week prior to coming to Campbellsville, VSN will feature a Mid-South
Conference West Division showdown between Union College and the University of
the Cumberlands Oct. 2.
The ninth season of coverage from
VSN will premiere Saturday, Aug. 28, with live coverage of the "Rivalry
Renewed" between Ottawa University and Baker University at 6 p.m. Central.
Campbellsville opens its season by
hosting Kentucky Christian at 7 p.m. Aug. 28 for its first-ever home football
night game. CU's season opener is scheduled to be televised in Campbellsville
on Comcast Channel 10 and streamed live via the CU Web site.
