Campbellsville University tennis coach Kyle Caven received some good news Tuesday while serving on a mission trip to the Domincan Republic. His 2010 men's tennis team has been named a NAIA Scholar Team.
In order to qualify, a team must post a minimum of a 3.0 GPA out of a 4.0 scale. Campbellsville men's tennis attained a 3.32 team GPA. CU softball was also honored with a 3.32 GPA.
"We are extremely proud of our guys recieving such an amazing honor," Caven said via e-mail from the Dominican. "The greatest thing about it is they really worked together to achieve this. Numerous times on away trips the guys helped each other study in subjects they are successful in. They are challenging each other to be better than yesterday. This 'team success' mindset created a great culture going forward."
Twenty more teams (857) attained the recognition this year than last, according to an NAIA press release, led by Iowa Wesleyan's volleyball team with a 3.82 GPA.
