Team is one of 857 to be so honored
Tiger softball evidently wasn't finished raking in honors from its 2010
season as Shannon Wathen's squad was named an NAIA Scholar Team.
In order to qualify, a team must post a minimum of a 3.0 GPA out of a
4.0 scale. Campbellsville attained a 3.32 team GPA for the 2009-10
school year.
"It's a great honor to be recognized," said Wathen. "Academics are very important to us as a coaching staff and it's great to have a group of student-athletes that excel both on and off the playing field and take great pride in their academics."
Twenty more teams (857) attained the recognition this year than last, according to an NAIA press release, led by Iowa Wesleyan's volleyball team with a 3.82 GPA.
During Mid-South Conference awards, the Tigers had seven players named to the all-academic team. They were: Nicole Bohannon, sophomore, Louisville; Morgan Bullock, junior, Frankfort, Ky.; Jordan Cornett, sophomore, Lexington, Ky.; Katelyn Daniel, senior, Nicholasville, Ky.; Allison Horton, senior, Lanesville, Ind.; Cassidy Kroeker, senior, Boissevian, Canada; and Kendra Nutter, junior, Danville, Ky.
The Tigers' recently completed 38-20 season ended with a runner-up finish in the MSC Tournament and a 21-7 MSC regular season slate.
