A girl's basketball team camp - Central Kentucky Team Camp - got under way Tuesday in four gyms in Campbellsville under the watchful leadership of former CU Lady Tiger head coach Donna Wise.

Eight varsity teams, and seven junior varsity and freshman/eight grade teams will play eight games over a three-day span, ending at 1 p.m. Thursday.


Wise has been conducting team camps for 19 years. The NAIA and (newly inducted) Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame coach led the Lady Tigers for 32 season and piled up 661 wins along the way.

Varsity teams include: Anderson County, Bullitt East, Adair County, Webster County, Allen County-Scottsville, Greenwood, Metcalfe County and Taylor County.

Elizabethtown has two teams in the junior varsity division and Green County joins that round robin of play as well. Green sent two teams to the freshman/eight grade league and Elizabethtown also registered a team.

Games continue at one-hour increments, beginning at 9:30 on Wednesday morning and 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Members of the present Lady Tiger women's basketball team and coaching staff are assisting Wise - providing supervision, clock operation and refereeing.

Games are played at two gyms on the CU campus and at Taylor middle and high schools.
